Mr Brightside by The Killers
This past week we have been treated to so much loveliness between the Once Upon a Time Comic Con panel and all of the preceding interviews from the event. Each one was filled with great teasers and tidbits and adorableness courtesy of our glorious CS captains Jen and Colin. I have loved each and every one and never once felt a sense of uncertainty or nervousness about what S4 holds in store. On the contrary it is quite the opposite. My anticipation and excitement has reached new heights that I am sure will only continue to grow until September 28th. Now you can feel however you like about everything we have heard the past few days, but for those who need a little reassurance let us review everything. I’ll start with Jen’s interview which seems to have caused the most concern.
Remember what the interview began with:
Of course we all thought this but to hear it come out of the mouth of the woman who plays Emma, the one understands her character more than anyone, is wonderful She gets it. She knows what a monumental sacrifice this was for Killian. Moving onto the what she said which has given people pause:
Frankly I was really surprised how nervous and upset this made people. Notice the way she words her answer. Emma does understand, it only seems like she may not because of very specific issues. And once we find out what these issues are her behavior will make sense. Keep in mind she has only read a few scripts and that this backstory is going to be revealed in episode 4.3. We will not have to wait long to see what this struggle is.
Emma is not going to completely revert to the person she was in 3B. She has come too far. Nor is she going to completely open up. This is Emma after all. This is just pure speculation but I would venture to guess that once it’s revealed what Emma’s internal struggle is it will not be long before she tries to let it go. I don’t see it taking the entirety of 4A, though I could be way off on that. But even if it does, I trust Adam and Eddy. They know what they are doing and have written a beautiful love story that continues to capture my heart. I have complete faith in them.
I also think whatever these issues are, the fact that it is Killian and her relationship with him that is making them rise to the surface says so much about the nature of her feelings. She has never felt this strongly about anyone and that scares her for reasons we are aware of and for reasons yet to be revealed. This all sounds ripe with amazing drama. And remember this is a drama.
I loved what they said in this interview:
The important thing to remember is that they do have a very deep connection. They are kindred spirits, Soul Mates, True Love. If you thought that their relationship would be all sunshine and rainbows then you have forgotten one of the major themes of the show: True Love isn’t easy. It’s complicated. It’s messy. But it’s also a magical and beautiful mystery and is, without a doubt, worth fighting for.
"And Hook is kind of the Sven…"
"…to Emma’s Anna."
Irish heartthrob Colin O’Donoghue had all the attention of many female fans at the San Diego Comic-Con when he answered a question of what advice would he provide his character, ‘Hook’ to keep Emma Swan. When he answered that he would advise his character to “treat her well, buy her flowers, clean the dishes and give her lots of little hugs” it is very likely that his favourite status with his female fans likely became even more secure and enhanced with this answer.
The actor was one of the more popular men at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con convention and this is no surprise considering his smouldering good looks and the different dimensions that he finds within his character and conveys to the viewers.
During an interview at the convention he revealed that the relationship between his character and Emma, played by Jennifer Morrison is complicated and this will be seen as the two of them try to determine what they are feeling for one another.
On the show his character has made some very difficult decisions for ‘love’ and fans will find out in season 4 how that works out for ‘Hook’. As an actor, his performance has some fans and entertainment observers anticipating that soon he might be casting his glance toward movies.
His presence on “Once Upon a Time” has made it one of the more popular shows on television as filmmakers have noticed how popular he is with female viewers and his ability to identify aspects of his character that connect with fans.
He is already a star because of his acting talent and gorgeous looks but don’t be surprised if the season 4 performances of Colin O’Donoghue on “Once Upon a Time” leads to his name being mentioned in consideration for feature roles in some big budget films in 2014 and onward.
